Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
